OLIVER COUNTY COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS were called to order at 8:00 AM with all members present.

Discussion was held on wages.

Rob Schmidt moved and Dave Berger seconded the motion to increase Jim Wenning’s rate of pay by $5,000 for a salary of $65,000 due to the promotion to Chief Deputy Sheriff.  All in favor, none opposed; motion carried.

Discussion was held on what to advertise a new hire for the Sheriff’s department. Dave Berger moved and Rob Schmidt seconded the motion to advertise starting at $60,000 and increase depending on experience. All in favor, none opposed; motion carried.

Discussion was held on weed board resignations. Brittany Price and Rick Schmidt both resigned from weed board as secretary and weed control officer respectively. Currently, 1/5 of the extension secretary position is paid out of the weed control fund. This was agreed to after a previous secretary retired and a new one was being sought to make it a full time position versus 4 days a week.

Rob Schmidt moved and Dave Berger seconded the motion  to pay the full amount of the Extension secretary’s salary from the Extension Agent fund. All in favor, none opposed; motion carried.

Lonnie Henke resigned from Planning & Zoning. There is an opening. Two applicants are on file.

Dave Berger moved and Rob Schmidt seconded the motion to advertise for applicants with a deadline of the July 8th, 2025 Commission meeting. All in favor, none opposed; motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 am.

The next meeting of the Oliver County Commission will be at 1:00 PM, July 8th, 2025 at the Oliver County Courthouse meeting room.
